IKEA

As part of our English topic on Instructional Writing, our class took a trip to IKEA Southampton to bring learning into the real world! Pupils had the chance to experience shopping in a large store, navigating the showroom, and working together to select and purchase two KALLAX units for our breakout space. Although the trip was a little rushed due to traffic (and we didn’t get to explore every floor!), the pupils made the most of the experience and showed fantastic teamwork, enthusiasm and curiosity throughout. Next week, they’ll put their learning into action by following the official IKEA instructions to assemble the units themselves, an exciting and practical way to apply their knowledge of sequencing, imperative verbs and clarity in writing. A fun and purposeful trip that brought classroom learning to life!

YO SUSHI

Kane, Benji, Anton, Kian and Hugo had an exciting opportunity to visit YO! Sushi before half term for their Wider Horizon Activity - a hands-on sushi-making experience! Under the guidance of Dave, the manager, we learned how to prepare three traditional sushi dishes. With gloves on and sleeves rolled up, everyone gave it their best shot at rolling sushi, and we were pretty proud of the results! We got to taste our creations on the spot, and any leftovers were carefully packed to take home and share. It was a fantastic experience that combined culture, food and practical skills in the most delicious way, at least for most of us!
