Remembrance Day
‘At 11.00 on the 11th of November 1918 the guns of the Great War fell silent. 21 years later, and on many occasions since then, wars have been fought that have directly involved servicemen and women from countless nations around the world.

At times, it must seem that our annual act of remembrance every November is one more reminder of the futility of armed conflict. However, our Act of Remembrance this year, like all the others before it, reminds us constantly that there are values worth defending and that there have been and always will be, men and women who have the courage to put themselves at risk for the sake of people they will never meet.
We will never glorify war but, equally, we will never forget the sacrifice of those who, in the words of the war memorial at Kohima in Burma “for your tomorrows, we gave our today”
St Edward’s Stands Together for
Anti-Bullying Week 2025

This week, St Edward’s proudly took part in Anti-Bullying Week, celebrating the theme “Power for Good.” Across the school, pupils and staff explored how even small actions, a kind word, speaking up for others, or offering support, can create a powerful positive impact.
Through discussions and creative activities, our pupils reflected on how they can use their influence to lift others up and help make St Edward’s a place where everyone feels respected, included and safe.
At St Edward’s, we believe that using our Power for Good isn’t just for one week, it’s something we champion all year round.
Work Experience
Kian spent the half term gaining some valuable work experience. He was up each morning, made his packed lunch and worked through to 5pm every day.
He was working in a client’s home putting in a new bathroom, including all the plumbing and even dealt with a gas leak!
He has thoroughly enjoyed his two weeks and has been invited back to work in February.

Sports Leadership Level 1
We are delighted to share that, over the half-term break, the three pupils who completed the Sports Leadership Level 1 course have now been awarded their certificates following successful quality assurance. The Leadership Skills Foundation commended the pupils for the impressive number of practical hours they completed and the high-quality opportunities they took part in. This is a significant achievement, and once they turn 16, each pupil will be eligible to undertake paid coaching roles.
With all pupils now having passed, the school will also be reconnecting with Cupernham Infant School to explore the opportunity for our pupils to lead a lunchtime sports session, helping them continue to build and refine their coaching skills.
