Caroline Nokes the member of Parliament for Romsey visits St Edward's School-Hampshire

On Monday 7th March St Edward’s hosted a visit by our Conservative Member of Parliament, Mrs Caroline Nokes. She addressed the whole school and took questions from pupils and staff on a range of issues from the situation in the Ukraine, women’s rights and ‘stop and search’ procedures in the local area. What impressed us most was her honest and direct manner of speaking. She remembered the names of every student and member of staff who spoke to her and wrote a personal letter to each of them replying to their individual questions. She even found time that afternoon to mention, in the House of Commons, one of the boys to whom she had spoken that morning.

Mrs Nokes ended her visit by planting a Black Walnut tree as a centre-piece of the Hedge Cross that is currently under construction by boys and staff in our Walled Garden. Mrs Nokes will continue to take an active interest in the various environmental and charitable causes that our school is currently involved in.
