Celebrating Poetry in English!
Inspired by Benjamin Zephaniah’s powerful poem “The British”, our pupils turned their creativity into writing their own “recipes” for what makes St Edward’s School unique.
Read there work below.
My St. Edward’s School by AFA
Get a big historical building with classes
Add some horrible teachers and some funky ones too
Fill it with special, petrified and fun students
Add a pinch of boring work and regret of doing it
Some accommodating and accompanying care staff
Roll the ball and score a goal
Mix with some climbing, motorbikes and falling off from them
Flip with some trampolining and some badminton
Chop some weights and PE t shirts
Stir with some Shetland pony and Lightning and Thunder,
And put some OT and Emotional support therapist,
Blend with some fun and joy to make the Bridge
Get a car and some awesome teachers and go to adventurous and exciting trips
And let them plan the PGL first ever residential for year 9s in our school
Then stir and let it brew.
Note: if you don’t treat your ingredients equally, it may lead to exclusions, dysregulated people and Foteini advocating for us
The Kindness in St Edwards by GSQ
Get a massive building with colourful classrooms and teachers
Add a splash of craziness
Shove in some activities and fun
Mix in differences and acceptance
Sprinkle laughter and humour
Add a dash of banter and forgiveness
Dunk a pinch of flabbergasted pupils and a swimming pool
Accompany students with a conundrum
Accommodate with other pupils and animals
Drop a dash of rules to the class according to protocol
Chuck in faith and equality
Drench a few students and teachers with kindness and respect
Stir and bake some students on sports day in the sun
Whisk in a few kind words and thoughtful children
Consequently, we will all become thoughtful kind friendly adults
Throughout heaven and earth this school is a blessing by AWE
Swing the crazy colour that rumbles the grounds that makes the pupils mystical
Sprinkle some craziness with an ounce of holiness, which makes us the light in the darkness
Slice and dice the pupils in with the fluffy creatures on the farm
Rinse the pupils with a timetable, accompany them with a peaceful breeze
Peel the petrified pupils from when they first saw the school
Drench them with excitement and a bit of a boost with no worries
Strike the pupils with lightning for a blessing and let them accelerate in the future
Stretch them in the mythical classroom with their bizarre trips
expanded the limits of the pupils and let them enjoy their lives
Hunt their weakness and their fears, and let it burn in hell
St. Edward’s school poem: aka my life by KSU
Add some key workers, teachers, happiness, and
then mix it with some English, maths and science
Eat some scrumptious lunch and some amazing snacks.
Add some happiness, brilliant memories and experiences.
Put some life-changing trips into a pot,
shake it until a paste and spread it on everybody
Attach some shouting teachers and some smelly boys
At the same time, we are getting outstanding in Ofsted
Note: you have changed so many people’s lives
all because you did not add some anger,
hate and discrimination.
