Science Trip to Kew Gardens
This week, we ventured to Kew and had a special workshop provided for us by the staff at The Royal Botanical Gardens. As our GCSE biology class was furthering their knowledge of plant adaptations and variation, where else would we have such amazing, face-to-face encounters with such a broad range of plant species? Not only were we given a bespoke workshop, but we also experienced the environments. What more could we ask for from the dry arid desert to the light and pure Alpine glasshouses to the wet and abundant tropical environments?
A beautiful day, great company and the best of the best with the very best.
Cheddar Gorge Trip
Yesterday, our class visited Cheddar Gorge & Caves. Our journey began at Cox’s Cave, where we explored the winding passages filled with colourful rock formations. From there, we climbed the Jacob’s Ladder, which was 274 steps high, and took in breathtaking views from the Lookout Tower.
We then headed into Gough’s Cave for a guided tour. We were fully engaged, and everyone asked thoughtful questions. We learned how these magnificent caves were formed over hundreds of thousands of years. To round off the day, we visited a local café, where we all had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime chance to try… Cheddar cheese ice cream! It was a mix of curiosity, surprise, and disgust, as we all concluded that we prefer to eat it as a cheese!
As always, our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for the school. They received positive feedback from every member of staff we encountered, making us incredibly proud!

Bikeability
This week, pupils in Eden completed their Bikeability Level 1 and 2. Pupils had to complete a range of tasks to show how to safely ride on the road and manoeuvre around cars, indicate turns, be safe riding past oncoming vehicles and ride past things like T junctions. All pupils conducted themselves brilliantly when ‘out and about’ and were outstanding representatives for our school. One pupil was even the best pupil they had seen at controlling a bike!
Well done, Eden.
