St Edward’s is leading a community of 34 schools in a project designed to put water resources into 23 schools in South West Uganda. We have developed a warm, friendly working partnership with Wycliffe Matika and Mercy Kimani of the International Tree Foundation, based in Kenya; with Mathias Wakulira of the Masaka and District Land Care Chapter and Christopher Wamala from Notre Dame High School in Uganda.
Together we are looking to employ a local consultant who will act on our behalf to verify the names, sizes and water needs of our 23 partner schools. He or she will write a report that will give us the data we need to hire contractors to build the 12,000 litre water-harvesting tanks. In this way, St Edward’s is leading the fight against poverty and the excesses of climate change in this part of Africa.
